Jamaican Rum
70 cl/46%
From the Hampden Distillery in Jamaica, this true 8-year-old is a blend of 100% traditional pot still rums and is characterised by a high ester profile and tropical notes.
Using the same techniques as in the 18th century, this is a fantastic representation of Jamaican rum.
Although this is a complex, full-bodied sipping rum, the flavours still stand up when being mixed.
Tasting Notes of Hampden Estate 8-Year-Old Rum
Naso: Pineapple, passion fruit, and new-car leather. Candied and jellied fruit notes develop with papaya, guava, lime, Seville orange, blood orange, and nectarine. Banana and toasted spice notes build, with prominent clove notes.
Palato The spice and bananas lead to a creamy banana pie with a generous dusting of ground clove and cinnamon. The banana remains as apples and pineapples roll in. Dark and weighty, oily notes sneak in behind.
Finish: Cinnamon spice and sweet banana fade to reveal apple jam and mint.
