Jamaican Rum
70 cl/46%
From the Hampden Distillery in Jamaica, this true 8-year-old is a blend of 100% traditional pot still rums and is characterised by a high ester profile and tropical notes.
Using the same techniques as in the 18th century, this is a fantastic representation of Jamaican rum.
Although this is a complex, full-bodied sipping rum, the flavours still stand up when being mixed.
Tasting Notes of Hampden Estate 8-Year-Old Rum
Nose: Pineapple, passion fruit, and new-car leather. Candied and jellied fruit notes develop with papaya, guava, lime, Seville orange, blood orange, and nectarine. Banana and toasted spice notes build, with prominent clove notes.
Palate: The spice and bananas lead to a creamy banana pie with a generous dusting of ground clove and cinnamon. The banana remains as apples and pineapples roll in. Dark and weighty, oily notes sneak in behind.
Finish: Cinnamon spice and sweet banana fade to reveal apple jam and mint.
