Wild Turkey Russell’s Reserve 13-Year-Old Batch 5 2023 Release
Jimmy Russell, sometimes known as ‘the master distiller’s master distiller’ at Wild Turkey Distillery, is a bourbon legend. But the Russell family’s passion and talent for excellent bourbon runs deep, and it was Jimmy’s son, Master Distiller Eddie Russell, who extended his wings to develop Russell’s Reserve in honor of his father’s history.
Russell’s Reserve 13-Year-Old was originally released in April 2021. Over the last three years, there have been five bottlings, with all releases coming in at 114.8 proof.
This is Batch No. 5, Was released in May 2023 as barrel proof.
Tasting Notes
Nose: sweet and woody, with notes of dark dried fruit and chocolate, honey, caramel, nougat, and brown sugar.
Taste: sweet and warming with dried dark fruit notes, complete with charred confectionary notes of charred marshmallow and burnt brown sugar.
Finish: Smoky campfire. Warm, long, and lingering.
