Sour Mash Whiskey
Distillery Bottling 70cl/43%/86 proof
Once the distillery’s single most popular product in the 1970s and 1980s, Michters sour mash sadly vanished from the market in 1989. Fast forward a few years to 2012, and it made its return.
Sour mash uses some leftover fermented mash from the previous mash to start the fermentation of the next.
The unique flavour created by this is full of burnt sugar, sugared almonds, and spicy, smokey fruit. Michters says it starts out like a bourbon and finishes like a rye.
