Tequila Bottled By Producer: 50cl/38%
Tapatio tequila is one of Mexico’s most well-respected brands, created in the traditional fashion by Carlos Camarea at La Altea distillery in the highland Los Altos region.
Tapatio Aejo has been aged for around 18 months in ex-bourbon casks after distillation and is a deliciously spicy, peppery, smooth-sipping aejo tequila—one of the best aejos you’ll ever find.
Official Tasting Notes
Nose: Rich and spicy, but rounded. The time in a cask has sanded the sharper edges off the agave, leaving fruit and a more subtle and refined flavour. It’s also picked up creamy notes as well as a hint of vanilla sweetness.
Palate: Comparatively weighty, but still elegant. It’s soft, with nutmeg, cinnamon and clove balanced against the agave pepperiness, and complemented by sweet fruit and cocoa richness.
Finish: Long and spicy, with herbal notes developing and fading to a chocolate-led end.
